About the job
The application deadline for the 2027 production has passed. It is currently not possible to apply for the casting.
Here you can sign up for our newsletter, where you will also receive the new call for applications/open positions, among other things.
Are you between 18 and 23 years old? You may not have professional stage training, but you have some experience and above all a great enthusiasm for circus? Are you fit and training for WHO KNOWS WHAT? Do you want to join the next tour? Then register for the annual casting in October. You are exactly right here.
Circus Chnopf is a cross-genre and cross-generational project. Since 1990, we have been producing innovative open-air spectacles and touring them through Switzerland in the summer. We offer young artists the opportunity to further develop their talents by working with experienced artists. Many of our alumni are now working in artistic professions.
Young artists are entitled to support in the artistic and acrobatic fields. Initiative is expected. They participate in and take responsibility in an appropriate form during setup and teardown, in the household, and before and after the shows. In safety-relevant areas, they are accompanied by professional team members and do not bear sole responsibility.
Offer and support
The young artists are employed as interns for five to six months. From the start of the intensive rehearsals, they receive a monthly salary of CHF 1,125.– minus contributions for board and lodging. Participation is also possible as civilian service. During rehearsal weekends, board and lodging are provided free of charge, but the rehearsal weekends are not paid. The professional artists are responsible for continuous training during the tour. In addition, each young artist can choose a godparent as a trusted person within the team. The production is led and implemented by a professional directing team in cooperation with the management team of Circus Chnopf.
What does a tour week look like?
Monday: teardown, travel, setup – Tuesday: day off – Wednesday: training/rehearsals, evening performance – Thursday: school or various tasks (posting posters, repairs, washing...) – Friday: training, performance – Saturday: school/training, performance – Sunday: performance, stage teardown
