Automobile Mechatronics Technician EFZ Specialising in Commercial Vehicles

Activities

Automobile mechatronics technicians carry out system tests on commercial vehicles with combustion engines and alternative drive concepts, as well as diagnostic work on mechatronic systems. They also perform maintenance and repair work on vehicle systems. These systems include chassis, engine and drive, as well as electrical, electronic, comfort and safety systems. For commercial vehicles, compressed air systems are additionally checked and programmed, and trailer steering systems and the air suspension system are diagnosed, among other tasks.

Training

• 4 years apprenticeship
• 1 – 1.5 days vocational school per week
• 68 days inter-company courses during the apprenticeship

It includes the following five areas of competence

• Inspection and maintenance of vehicles
• Replacement of wear parts
• Support of operational processes
• Inspection and repair of systems
• Diagnosis of mechatronic systems
