Where Numbers Meet People - Tax Commissioner 80 - 100%
Welcome to the fascinating world of taxes! The cantonal tax office, together with the municipal tax offices, collects taxes for the federal government, the canton, and the municipalities. We support private individuals and companies throughout the entire tax collection process. Around 800 qualified employees are committed to this at the location in Zurich Altstetten.
Because behind every tax return there is more than just numbers. It is about people, their stories, and connections that need to be understood. This requires a clear mind – perhaps exactly yours? And this is where you come in – as a Tax Commissioner in the private individuals sector. You deepen your knowledge of tax law or start fresh, analyse facts, and bring structure to complex topics. Step by step, you develop a feel for the tax system.
You are not alone in this. Your team will support you from day one, assist you in everyday tasks, and gladly share their knowledge with you. Curiosity is the best prerequisite for starting, which takes place by arrangement and coordinated with our internal training start.
Your area of responsibility:

- Answering tax-related questions in writing, by phone, or in personal discussions
- Technical contact person for municipal tax offices
- Review of objections and in-depth clarification of open issues
- Participation in audit procedures
- Support in appeal procedures and representation of the state in corresponding proceedings
Your profile:
- A completed bachelor’s degree, ideally in business administration or law, or a higher professional qualification in finance and accounting, fiduciary services, or as a business economist HF
- Interest in tax-related issues and initial insights into the finance or tax sector are advantageous
- Interest in understanding complex topics and making independent decisions
- A structured, independent way of working and enjoyment in taking on responsibility
- Very good German skills in spoken and written form (C2)
- Swiss citizenship, as this is a sovereign function
What we offer:
- “On the job” training with full salary, as well as diverse development opportunities such as further specialisation in tax law, participation in process and project work, and taking on leadership responsibilities
- An experienced, committed, and collegial team
- Attractive employment conditions such as flexible working hours, the possibility to work from home, lunch vouchers, and a modern workplace in close proximity to Zurich Altstetten station
