The French Section of the Faculty of Letters at the University of Lausanne is advertising a position for an assistant professor on conditional tenure track (PTC, Tenure Track) at the rank of associate professor in Romand literature.

* The person appointed as assistant professor on conditional tenure track (tenure track) is hired for a two-year mandate, renewable twice upon the Dean's proposal. An evaluation procedure is generally initiated at the end of the 8th semester, i.e., at the beginning of the third two-year mandate. At the end of this procedure, the Faculty proposes (or not) to the UNIL Management the tenure at the rank of associate professor.
Your Activities
Teaching load in Romand literature of 4 hours per week (6 hours after the tenure procedure) at Bachelor and Master levels. Supervision of students, handling of exams. It will also involve supervising Master theses and doctoral dissertations in the field. This teaching will mainly be given within the French Section.
The recruited person will freely develop individual research in the field of literatures in Romandy in connection with French and Francophone literatures. The holder will seek external funding, notably from the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF). They may also develop reflection on literature in Romandy and its various literary genres as well as work on critical editions and the enhancement of archival collections, both through publication and the organization of scientific and cultural events.
The selected person will be expected to direct the Center for Literatures in Romandy (CLSR), which currently has several employees and associated mandates. They will have to manage the center's archival collection and relations with the archives of the Cantonal and University Library of Lausanne (BCUL) as well as with the Vaud Cantonal Archives and the Swiss Literary Archives.
In accordance with legal requirements and collegial expectations, the holder will assume administrative tasks that may be assigned within the framework of their functions, at the unit, Faculty, University, and university coordination bodies levels.
Your Profile
PhD in French and/or Francophone literature or equivalent degree.
Several years of experience after the doctorate in university teaching in modern French, Romand, and Francophone literatures, with a focus on Romand literature.
Proven research and publications in the aforementioned field.
Openness to interdisciplinarity in research and teaching.
Strong integration into international research networks.
Ability to attract external funding.
