The Migration & Integration Department of French-speaking Switzerland, a branch of Caritas Switzerland in Fribourg, is responsible for supporting and integrating recognised refugees in the canton of Fribourg on behalf of the state. The Integration Service is a multidisciplinary service composed of 30 people divided into five areas.

The Service’s mission is to promote the sustainable professional and social integration of refugees. The professionals support beneficiaries individually and in groups to assess their needs and skills, develop personalised measures, and coordinate work with other services and external partners.

To support the early childhood team, the Integration Service is looking for one or two early childhood socio-educational assistants (ASE) for a fixed term. The hours and nursery opening times are as follows: Monday to Friday, from 8 am to 12 pm and from 1 pm to 5 pm. The nursery is closed from 21.12.2026 to 01.01.2027 and from 08.02.2027 to 19.02.2027.

 Your tasks

• Contribute to the smooth running, planning and dynamics of the nursery
• Participate in managing registrations
• Welcome children and their parents, actively supporting them in the separation process
• Organise and lead various recreational and creative activities
• Manage routine purchases (snacks, activity materials, other supplies)
• Implement and apply the educational concept of the childcare facility on a daily basis
• Provide a safe, educational and stimulating environment
• Participate in supervising nursery assistants and interns
• Take part in team meetings

Our requirements

• Diploma as a socio-educational assistant (ASE) and at least 2 years’ experience in a similar role
• Excellent ease in relating to children aged 6 months to 8 years and their families
• Very good organisational and communication skills
• Ability to work with a group of 20 children in a multicultural context
• Ability to adopt a caring professional attitude and demonstrate impeccable work ethics
• Strong sense of responsibility and professional rigour, especially regarding child care and protection
• Fluency in French; knowledge of other languages is an asset
• Submission of ordinary and special criminal record extracts will be required before starting work.

The workplace is in Fribourg.

Start date: 26 October 2026 or by agreement. Fixed-term contract until 19 March 2027.
