We are looking from 1 January 2027 or by arrangement for an experienced specialist for our department "Vocational Education and Training and Further Education" in the Secondary and Vocational Education Office of the Directorate of Education and Culture.

Your tasks

Advice and supervision:

• You support the training of professional groups and ensure compliance with legal bases and regulations at vocational schools.
• In close cooperation with the responsible specialist offices, you clarify pedagogical and legal issues and support vocational schools in implementing educational ordinances and curricula.
• You provide information and advise school management, sponsors, parents, trainers, and other bodies.
• In addition, you contribute to responding to parliamentary initiatives and consultations.

• You advise vocational schools on school space matters and coordinate with the responsible specialist offices.
• You are responsible for supervising the correct implementation of physical education according to the applicable regulations and for clarifying questions regarding physical education and the implementation of the federal framework curriculum for sport.
• You provide professional advice on intercantonal professional courses.

• You actively participate in the FUTUREMEM project and take on deputising responsibilities within the project if required.

Your profile

• Completed vocational training with further university studies (FH or university), e.g. in pedagogy, law, business administration
• Several years of professional experience in vocational education at a vocational school or in a comparable role in educational administration is ideal.
• Experience in collaboration with authorities, schools, and other stakeholders.
• Familiarity with educational ordinances and curricula or willingness to acquire this knowledge quickly
• Knowledge in the area of school space and infrastructure planning and physical education at vocational schools is an advantage
• Strong advisory and communication skills with various stakeholders
• Networked, solution-oriented thinking and acting
• Independent, structured, and reliable working style
• Willingness to take on responsibility and project work
• Fluent German (C2) and French (B2) in spoken and written form

The Secondary and Vocational Education Office is responsible for the management and supervision of secondary schools, vocational education, further education, and career counselling according to legal requirements from the federal government and canton. Together with its educational partners, it is committed to education for Switzerland today and tomorrow.

The department of vocational education and further education manages and supervises the German-speaking vocational schools, the funded offers for acquiring and maintaining basic skills for adults, as well as lifelong learning, thus also making an important contribution to the integration of migrants. It also coordinates the cantonal bridging programmes. Together with schools, further education organisations, and involved specialist offices, it ensures the effective implementation of educational ordinances and the further development of training courses and offers. It also ensures coordination with the federal government, further educational institutions, and other cantons.
