As a Lead Java Engineer, you take on a central role in the implementation of diverse customer projects. Depending on the project, you work on-site at the customer or in-house at your preferred ELCA location in Zurich or Bern.
Your tasks
- You design and implement scalable, sustainable Java solutions in complex system landscapes, taking responsibility for maximum business benefit, architectural quality as well as testability and maintainability of demanding solutions
- You make well-founded architecture and design decisions and ensure long-term maintainable and scalable systems through best practices (e.g. reviews, standards)
- You use AI-supported tools in software engineering in a targeted manner and actively contribute to the further development of our development approaches
- As a technical sparring partner, you support project teams and customers with complex technical issues and promote the professional development of your team
- You advise customers on technology and architecture decisions and have the opportunity to participate in tenders (e.g. feasibility studies, solution design)
- You work in agile project teams using agile methods such as Scrum or SAFe to ensure efficient processes and optimal results

Your profile
- Completed studies (University/ETH/FH) in computer science or related field
- 7+ years of experience in analysis, design and development with Java (Core, Spring Ecosystem, JPA/Hibernate)
- 2+ years of experience as a tech lead in the technical management of development teams
- Very good knowledge of Spring/Spring Boot, microservices architectures as well as experience in software architecture design
- Experience with RESTful APIs (OpenAPI/Swagger) as well as integration of legacy systems (SOAP, batch processes)
- Practical expertise with relational databases (Oracle, MSSQL, PostgreSQL), complex SQL queries and data modelling
- Familiar with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab CI), containerisation/orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift) as well as cloud platforms (AWS advantageous)
- Practical knowledge of AI and AI-supported development as well as interest in new engineering approaches, such as agentic engineering
- Fluent German and English skills, both spoken and written
