You build software for clients whose processes are too complex for standard products. A team of AI agents supports you — you lead, review, and take responsibility.

About the role

Your tasks

• •Professional discovery: You explore with client domain experts what the subject matter really is — using Event Storming, domain modelling, and a ubiquitous language that is the same in the team and in the code.
• •Design and implementation: You design domain concepts, implement them as examples, and lead the implementation — from the domain model through the API to the interface.
• •Delivering with agents: You delegate routine tasks to agents, review every result, and take responsibility for it. You recognise when an agent reaches a limit and take over yourself there.
• •Ensuring reliability: You build the checks that prove something is correct — tests that can fail, and test data that has domain value. Especially with agent-generated code, this is work that cannot be delegated.
• •Automation: You keep the build, delivery, and operation of the application running and improve it where it slows down.
• •Coaching: You pass on development techniques within the team — TDD, refactoring, pair programming, code reviews, and agentic development: how to commission an agent, check its result, and stand behind it.
• •Tools: You work on our own tools — AppShell, Magellan, webbloqs, and websmith — and feed back what you have learned in the project.

What you work with

What the work looks like

• •A pension is recalculated retroactively because a regulation was changed three years later. The application must know both: what applied then and what applies today — bi-temporal data management so that every payment remains traceable.
• •A construction worker applies for the bridging pension at 60. The application goes through a review process with four-eyes principle, role-based assignment, and exceptions that are in the regulation and represented in BPMN.
• •A customer portal shows invoices and consumption data that reside in SAP and remain there. The identity comes from the City of Zurich’s identity provider. You decide what the portal may cache and what it must query every time.
• •A master data record is maintained in two systems and differs. You clarify with the domain department which system holds the truth — before you write a line of code.

What you bring

• •Release responsibility in the last two years. At least five years of software development overall. Platform operation, test automation, and consulting without implementation responsibility do not count.
• •Productive code delivered with AI agents. In the interview, we ask for a case where an agent delivered plausibly but was wrong — and what you changed as a result. Copilot as autocomplete does not count.
• •A green test suite taken apart because it proved nothing. We ask for the specific case.
• •Confident in TypeScript or Java, willing to learn the second language. Another stack does not fulfil this role.
• •Moderate domain workshops in German, including dialect. C1 on paper is often not enough.

Additional helpful skills — not a requirement

• •Domain-Driven Design, Event Storming, or BPMN
• •Led domain discovery yourself instead of waiting for a specification
• •Passed on development techniques — TDD, refactoring, pair programming, agentic development

This position is not for you if

• •You want to specialise in one technology. Here the domain changes with the project
• •You expect a finished specification. Domain discovery is part of the role
• •You prefer to work alone on code rather than with domain experts on the problem. Half of this work takes place in conversation
• •You want to avoid AI agents. We build with them daily

Compensation

• •Salary range CHF 110,000 – 135,000 per year, depending on experience
• •Company-wide bonus, bonus portion through peer review
• •Five weeks’ holiday and at least one week for further training
