The Secondary School and Vocational Training Office is the competence and service center for vocational education, secondary schools, higher vocational education, and further education in the Canton of Zurich. The Secondary School Department handles all matters related to secondary schools. We are looking for an immediate or agreed addition to the team for a Commissioner for Secondary Schools (80 - 90%).

Your area of responsibility
Are you interested in education policy, strong in communication, and feel at home at the interface of school, administration, and politics? Do you appreciate complex tasks and bring the necessary sensitivity in dealing with various stakeholders? As a school commissioner, you will significantly contribute to the further development of Zurich's secondary schools. You will competently and reliably accompany and advise the management of Zurich's secondary schools on strategic, organizational, financial, and legal issues. As a central contact person, you maintain an overview even in challenging situations and set priorities with a sense of proportion. With organizational talent and palpable joy in efficient processes, you provide the necessary services in a timely and service-oriented manner. Thanks to your solid experience in working with leaders, you succeed in establishing sustainable relationships at eye level. You write political reports and prepare decision-making bases appropriately for the audience. Additionally, you ensure clear coordination of all relevant parties and support the management team with strategic foresight and professional expertise.
Your profile
You hold a master's degree from a university and have at least five years of professional experience in the education sector and/or in administration. You are a high-performing, pragmatic personality with a quick grasp and pronounced conceptual thinking. Independent work and high personal responsibility are as natural for you as constructive teamwork. Your organizational skills and clear service orientation ensure that processes run smoothly and purposefully. Your communication – whether in the form of parent letters, decrees, speeches, or responses to internal and external inquiries – impresses with linguistic clarity and content precision. You negotiate confidently, prudently, and with the necessary touch of humor.
