Chief Resident for the Angiology Department
To complete the team of the Angiology Department at the University Hospital Centre of Vaud (CHUV), we are offering 2 chief resident positions, with a workload of 80% to 100%, starting 1 November 2026 or at a date to be agreed, for a duration of 1 to 5 years.

Context
The University Hospital Centre of Vaud (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research and education.
Our department is one of the largest angiology centres in Switzerland, with over 20,000 annual consultations covering all vascular pathologies:
🛑 Arterial and venous pathologies, including VTE and peripheral arteriopathies
🛑 Complex lymphatic pathologies with a dedicated hospitalisation unit
🛑 Rare vascular diseases and congenital vascular malformations
🛑 Advanced and rapidly growing interventional venous angiology: superficial varicose disease, pelvic varices, acute and chronic deep venous occlusions, vascular malformations
🛑 Vascular access for haemodialysis with CEUS
🛑 Aortic pathway (with CEUS)
🛑 Specialised consultations: cardiovascular prevention, lipoedema

Mission
Your duties will include:
- Clinical supervision and mentoring of assistant physicians (AP) and trainees
- Autonomous management of patients across all areas of vascular medicine
- Active participation in weekly conferences, multidisciplinary meetings and literature reviews
- Opportunity to deepen your skills in specific areas (interventional phlebology, rare diseases, lymphology, etc.)
- Involvement in clinical research projects or development of new services
- Close collaboration with vascular surgery, cardiac surgery and cardiology departments within a common thematic department dedicated to cardiovascular diseases, promoting integrated, innovative and multidisciplinary care.
Active involvement in service management is also expected, notably through the development and management of various organisational tasks such as:
- Organisation of internal conferences, coordination of training for students, trainees and assistant physicians
- Development of evaluation tools for APs, as well as participation in planning scientific or continuing education events
- Organisation of the clinical schedule, evaluation of assistant physicians and trainees
- Participation in the service recruitment committee.
Profile
- You hold a Swiss federal medical diploma or a title recognised by the Federal Commission of Medical Professions (MEBEKO)
- You possess the specialist title in vascular medicine (ISFM or equivalent recognised in Switzerland)
- You have solid clinical experience in the vascular field
- You have an interest in teaching and working in a multidisciplinary team
- You wish to invest in teaching and multidisciplinary teamwork
- You actively engage in continuing education on specialised topics
- You have mastered French, level C1 required.

Opportunities to develop an interventional venous specialisation, with the possibility to train extensively in deep interventional venous angiology and malformations, including:
- Treatment of pelvic varices
- Management of acute and chronic venous occlusions
- Interventional approach to complex vascular malformations
These trainings are particularly aimed at candidates wishing to commit to our department for a prolonged period (3 to 5 years or more) or to pursue a hospital-university career in a rapidly growing field.
