For Bedag Informatik AG, an established Swiss ICT service provider owned by the Canton of Bern, we are seeking an experienced leader for the Board of Directors of Bedag Informatik AG as part of a succession arrangement.

The company combines the operation of critical ICT infrastructures and its own data centres with software and application development for demanding customers from the public sector.

Your role 

As a member of the Board of Directors, you bring an external perspective and actively contribute to strategic development. You act as a sparring partner for the Board and management, question existing assumptions and combine technological expertise with entrepreneurial thinking and a good understanding of the public sector’s framework conditions. 

The focus is on the strategic impacts of AI, the development of the software and application business, as well as long-term technology and investment decisions. Equally important is the positioning of the company in a changing ICT market, new cooperations and the further development of the service offering for public clients. 

It is essential to balance innovation, stability, security and the special requirements of the public sector sensibly.

Your profile

You have many years of leadership experience in a technologically demanding environment and have already shaped major technological changes or transformations from your own responsibility. 

Ideally, you bring experience from the software or technology sector, possess broad ICT understanding and sound knowledge in software and application development. You engage deeply with AI and its strategic impacts and can translate technological developments into entrepreneurial contexts. 

In addition to high technological competence, you have extensive market knowledge and the ability to assess technological developments early on for their economic consequences. You particularly recognise how AI can massively change productivity in software development, significantly reduce development and production costs, and thereby fundamentally alter price structures, competitive positions, value chains and existing business models. From this, you derive relevant strategic options for action for the company at an early stage. 

Experience with long-term technology and investment decisions, complex structures, as well as in the public sector or regulated markets is advantageous. A strong connection to Switzerland and a relevant network in the public sector complete your profile.
