Who are we?
The canton of Fribourg comprises seven district courts, with seats in Granges-Paccot, Tavel, Bulle, Murten, Romont, Estavayer-le-Lac and Châtel-Saint-Denis (five French-speaking, one German-speaking and one bilingual). Each court consists of one or several presidents, assessors and clerks. The presidents are professional judges. The assessors are lay judges serving in a part-time capacity. The district courts sit as civil or criminal courts and also form several jurisdictions (labour court, rental court, etc.).
