About the job
At Endress+Hauser, progress happens through collaboration. As the world’s leading provider of measuring instruments, our approximately 18,000 employees shape the future in the field of process automation. Whether it is through innovation and implementation of new technologies in teams, collaboration in the development of new devices, or strengthening important relationships with various global industries: our work is based on building trusting relationships that help everyone succeed. As a family-run company, we look beyond short-term goals and work to create a future-oriented vision for our employees, our customers, and the world in general.
We are looking for a Head of Equipment Engineering to strengthen our Group Engineering and lead a central engineering function that significantly shapes how production facilities are designed, implemented, and scaled worldwide. In this role, you will play a crucial part in building a future-proof engineering organisation that enables innovation, efficiency, and sustainable growth.
What is this position about?
Do you enjoy building and further developing engineering organisations that create real added value? Are you passionate about transforming complex requirements into scalable and standardised solutions? Do you feel comfortable in an environment where collaboration across functions and cultures is essential?
Then this role offers you the opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary engineering function at the heart of our Industrial Engineering. You will work closely with internal and external stakeholders and act as a trusted partner on a global level.
What responsibilities will you take on?
You will:
- lead and further develop the Equipment Engineering organisation as a central, multidisciplinary engineering and implementation unit, including responsibility for employees, budget, and resources.
- act as a strategic engineering partner for production facilities, connecting the disciplines of Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Automation.
- build and strengthen core competencies in modularisation, standardisation, and platform design for production facilities to reduce complexity and enable scalability.
- successfully manage projects throughout the entire lifecycle – from requirements analysis through implementation to commissioning and Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT).
- ensure and monitor compliance with machinery directives (CE), relevant standards, as well as safety, security, and quality requirements.
- manage collaboration with international engineering partners, including technical evaluation and performance monitoring to ensure flexibility and scalability.
What do we expect from you?
You:
- hold a Master’s degree in Engineering (e.g. Mechanical, Electrical, Automation, or Industrial Engineering); additional qualifications in Systems Engineering, manufacturing technologies, or management are advantageous.
- bring extensive experience in equipment engineering and handling complex systems, especially in standardisation and modularisation as well as industrialisation or manufacturing technology.
- possess comprehensive experience throughout the entire project lifecycle and a deep understanding of industrial standards, compliance requirements, and quality expectations.
- have proven experience in managing budgets, resources, and external partners, as well as a strong understanding of total cost of ownership and lifecycle considerations.
- have pronounced leadership experience and are capable of further developing organisations, uniting diverse stakeholders, and successfully managing transformations.
- communicate confidently in German and English and act confidently in an international environment.
What can you expect from us?
- A responsible key role with global impact in a successful and stable family business
- Plenty of scope to actively drive innovation and technological development
- International collaboration within a strong network of over 18,000 employees worldwide
- Attractive working conditions, flexible working models, and an appreciative corporate culture
- We are a family company where friendliness and strong commitment are important.
- We promote lifelong learning with diverse training and development opportunities, internal knowledge transfer, and e-learning.
