About the job
The Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research (FMI) is seeking for its animal facility a Laboratory Animal Technician (100%) starting 1 January 2027.
You will be responsible for the care and husbandry of laboratory animals (rodents, zebrafish), the independent cleaning and disinfection of animal rooms and cages, as well as compliance with animal welfare legislation, hygiene regulations and internal guidelines. You will perform common tasks such as managing breeding colonies, identification and biopsy sampling. Furthermore, you will assist with the electronic recording of animal data and work both in the SPF barrier (specified pathogen-free) and conventional housing. Additionally, you are willing to work weekend and public holiday shifts.
You have completed training as an animal technician with several years of professional experience, a high level of quality awareness and knowledge in the field of hygiene. You are accustomed to working independently, in a structured, responsible and flexible manner and appreciate working in a well-coordinated team. Ideally, you also have English language skills, both spoken and written, and are proficient in computer use (MS Office and Outlook).
