The Finance Department of the City of Zurich manages – as a cross-sectional organisation – the service departments Organisation and IT, Financial Administration, Tax Office, Real Estate City of Zurich and Human Resources Management.
Real Estate City of Zurich (LSZ) represents the city as owner, investor and manager of municipal buildings rented to third parties as well as owner representative of the city’s land reserves. Due to the resignation of the director as of summer 2027, we are seeking a successor.

Your tasks
- Strategic and operational management of Real Estate City of Zurich as well as its organisational, business and digital development.
- Overall responsibility for a diverse real estate portfolio with over 10,000 apartments and extensive land reserves.
- Further development of the city’s land, housing and real estate policy to promote affordable housing, social diversity and sustainable portfolio development.
- Initiation and management of complex property and real estate transactions as well as preparation of strategic decision-making bases for the Finance Department, City Council, Municipal Council and voters.
- Leadership of the executive management and directly subordinate employees as well as overall responsibility for around 290 employees; active participation in cross-departmental planning and steering committees.
Profile
- University or university of applied sciences degree in architecture, business or real estate management, supplemented by management-oriented further training, preferably in Public Administration
- Several years of proven leadership and management experience in a complex organisation as well as the ability to develop it strategically and with a future focus
- Sound experience in real estate management as well as pronounced strategy, project and negotiation skills
- Interest in political and administrative processes as well as skill in negotiation and problem-solving
- Convincing communication and representation skills, high integrity, resilience and a cooperative leadership style
