About the job
The Swiss Tafel is the central hub between business and the social system: it rescues surplus, flawless food daily and distributes it free of charge to social institutions throughout Switzerland.
At our site in Dietikon ZH, we are looking for a person from 1 February 2027 or by arrangement who does not just manage operational logistics but truly leads.
Your tasks
As site manager, you bear overall responsibility for the smooth operation at our site in Dietikon ZH. You plan the daily routes for collection and distribution of food donations, continuously adjust them in case of quantity changes or cancellations, and coordinate special tours.
In the warehouse, you are responsible for order, hygiene, the cold chain, and an optimal flow of goods according to standardised guidelines between donors, warehouse, and recipient institutions. You keep the vehicle fleet in impeccable condition: you independently organise servicing, repairs, and inspection appointments. You lead your team of volunteers and civil service workers clearly, appreciatively, and in a structured manner – from induction to daily deployment planning. The associated administration – daily and tour reports, statistics, administrative tasks – you complete neatly and on time.
What you bring
- Experience in logistics, scheduling, warehouse management, or retail; food sector advantageous
- Initial leadership experience advantageous
- Business management thinking
- Basic commercial knowledge and careful working style
- Very good German skills in spoken and written form
- Confident use of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Teams, Office 365 applications)
- Driving licence category B
What distinguishes you
Even in hectic phases with many parallel demands, you remain calm and ensure a stable daily structure. You prioritise tasks according to urgency and importance and delegate purposefully. Time pressure and short-term changes do not unsettle you. You lead your team with natural authority and clear communication. The focus is on operational implementation on site; administrative tasks are supplementary.
