The Medical and Quality Directorate's mission is to guarantee the quality and safety of medical services offered by the Geneva University Hospitals. The Infection Prevention and Control Service (SPCI) is responsible for controlling and preventing infections and reservoirs of resistant microorganisms in the hospital environment. The service consists of a team of specialised nurses, infectious disease physicians with clinical and research roles, students and doctoral candidates, epidemiologists, and IT specialists. The service is also a collaboration centre with the World Health Organization (WHO) concerning antibiotic resistance control and the prevention of nosocomial infections.
Job Description
Under the responsibility of the associate deputy physician of the SPCI and in collaboration with the intensive care unit, you will participate in the research project "Thermal DeepCath", which aims to combine thermal imaging, standard photographs of the central venous catheter insertion site, and clinical data to develop a model capable of assessing the infection risk related to central venous catheters in patients hospitalised in the intensive care units of the HUG.
Daily screening of patients eligible for intensive care;
You participate in the inclusion procedure and the collection of consent;
You observe and perform standardised acquisition of classic and thermal photos of the CVC sites at the patient’s bedside;
You enter data into REDCap and securely store images on the HUG network.
Qualifications
This position is ideally suited to medical students (Bachelor or Master) or students in a health-related field.
You are comfortable in a hospital environment and have an interest in clinical research and innovation in the health sector.
You demonstrate rigour, reliability, and good organisational skills. You have good interpersonal skills and enjoy teamwork.
Previous experience in a hospital setting or clinical research is an asset.
Organisation: work during weekdays and weekends, rotating with other students.
