Role:
Build the technical foundation for a powerful IT: automated, secure, and ready for the next generation of infrastructure.
This position is aimed at a technically strong infrastructure specialist who enjoys complex system landscapes. From VMware and Nutanix to Windows and Linux, as well as Kubernetes, networking, and security, a versatile environment is created for an engineer who likes to dive deep into technologies while keeping an eye on the overall architecture.
Responsibilities:
Engineering and continuous optimisation of modern IT infrastructures
Building, operating, and further developing virtualised platforms
Administration of VMware-, Nutanix-, and open-source-based environments
Further development of Windows and Linux platforms for development and business applications
Support of VDI and modern workplace environments
Technical implementation of migrations and platform changes
Automation of installation, configuration, and operational processes
Development of reusable scripts and automation solutions
Optimisation of network architectures and security controls
Technical implementation of firewall, segmentation, and access concepts
Analysis of complex infrastructure problems across multiple technology layers
Conducting root cause analyses and sustainable troubleshooting
Development of standardised operational and escalation processes
Optimisation of monitoring, logging, and alerting
Participation in technical architecture decisions and infrastructure projects
Creation of technical concepts, operational documentation, and runbooks
Qualifications:
Completed training or further education in computer science, systems engineering, or a related technical field
Several years of professional experience in system engineering or infrastructure engineering
Solid knowledge of Windows and Linux
Very good knowledge in the field of virtualisation
Experience with VMware, ideally VMware Cloud Foundation or comparable enterprise platforms
Experience with Nutanix or hyperconverged infrastructure is an advantage
Knowledge of Kubernetes, containerisation, or modern platform technology
Good knowledge in networking and IT security
Experience with enterprise firewalls and security solutions
Good scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, Bash, or comparable languages
Interest in infrastructure as code and automated operational models
Strong analytical thinking and enjoyment of complex troubleshooting
High personal responsibility and solution-oriented working style
Willingness to critically question existing technologies and introduce new approaches
