The Faculty of Medicine of the University of Basel and the University Hospital Basel are seeking a professor for neurosurgery.
The Neurosurgical Clinic at the University Hospital Basel is one of the leading neurosurgical clinics in Switzerland in research and service, with an international reputation. The research focus of the professorship should be on neuro-oncological neurosurgery.
Your tasks
You are the senior physician (clinically reporting to the chief physician) in the neurosurgery department at the University Hospital Basel. Through your clinical expertise and research background, you strengthen the national and international visibility of neurosurgery at the University of Basel. Your clinical expertise and interest in medical training ensure and promote the modern training and further education of neurosurgical assistants and senior physicians according to the guidelines of the Swiss Institute for Medical Continuing and Further Education (SIWF). With your commitment to university research and teaching, you inspire students for your field and promote academic junior staff in neurosurgery. Your participative, goal-oriented leadership style ensures an attractive working environment for academic and clinical specialists. You lead a neurosurgical research group and create a fertile environment for a successful research team.
Your profile
You hold a FMH specialist title in neurosurgery or an equivalent qualification and have broad clinical experience in neurosurgery, focusing on neuro-oncological neurosurgery. You demonstrate successful independent research activity, including competitive third-party funding acquisition, in the field of neuro-oncological neurosurgery. You have proven leadership experience in an academic environment. Thanks to your pronounced expertise, leadership and communication skills, as well as your high social competence, you gain acceptance and trust. You create an attractive working environment, inspire creative thinking and action, and promote your employees. You have very good German language skills.
