The Burgdorf Regional Prison is the most modern prison in the Canton of Bern and stands for a secure, structured, and responsible enforcement of various types of detention. With around 160 inmates and 60 employees, we ensure an orderly operation and high safety standards daily. We are guided by the motto: "Safety today and tomorrow. Your tasks

• You coordinate the daily operations in facility management and sanitary maintenance, ensuring smooth operational processes. In addition, you independently carry out maintenance, inspection, and repair work on sanitary installations while adhering to applicable safety standards.
• In your daily work, you accompany, motivate, and support inmates according to work pedagogy principles and strengthen their work and social skills. You consistently implement hygiene, safety, and occupational health regulations and ensure their compliance in the work area.
• Furthermore, you professionally perform minor repair and maintenance work. This includes, among other things, clearing blocked drains and replacing and repairing fittings, seals, siphons, and cisterns. You regularly check the building technology, detect possible malfunctions early, and initiate the necessary measures to rectify them.

Your profile

• You have completed training as a certified sanitary installer EFZ or facility management specialist EFZ. Ideally, you bring several years of professional experience and possess a strong technical understanding. You maintain an overview and act prudently even in challenging situations.
• You interact with inmates respectfully, clearly, and consistently. You are willing to pursue targeted further training in the areas of correctional services and work pedagogy and to expand your professional and personal skills accordingly.
• You enjoy working in a team and maintain constructive collaboration with various specialist departments. You communicate confidently in German; knowledge of additional foreign languages is an advantage. A category B driving licence is required; a forklift licence is advantageous.

About the Office for Correctional Services

The Office for Correctional Services (AJV) employs around 1000 staff within the Security Directorate of the Canton of Bern (SID) and is responsible for open and closed penal and measure enforcement for adults and juveniles. To fulfil this task, the office has at its disposal four concordat correctional institutions, four regional prisons, the surveillance station at Inselspital, the detention control centre, as well as probation and enforcement services.
