PhD Program - Gender Studies
CategoryPositionPresentation
The CUSO doctoral programme "Gender Studies" is a place for training and scientific exchange for doctoral candidates working from a gender perspective. Building on the continuity of the Léman Doctoral School (2002-2008) and the Romand Doctoral School in Gender Studies (2008-2011), the new doctoral programme is part of a dynamic of consolidating achievements and an ethos of broadening (institutional and disciplinary). This doctoral programme will enable us to achieve the following objectives:a. The CUSO doctoral programme offers the opportunity to experiment with the contributions of interdisciplinarity which underpins Gender Studies.
b. The proposed modules provide a genuine space for exchange between doctoral candidates and colleagues further advanced in their careers, allowing for deepening both theoretical and methodological knowledge in Gender Studies.
c. The CUSO doctoral programme also facilitates networking among young researchers, not only regionally but also nationally and internationally.
d. The sessions of the doctoral programme allow doctoral candidates to practise scientific communication and improve their research dissemination skills, notably through individual or collective publications.
The CUSO doctoral programme "Gender Studies" brings together five institutions in Western Switzerland: the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies, the University of Fribourg, the University of Geneva (management), the University of Lausanne, and the University of Neuchâtel. It is also affiliated with the Network of Swiss Doctoral Schools in Gender Studies.
Enrolment in the programme is open to anyone registered at one of the five member institutions, who approaches their doctoral research from a gender perspective, either wholly or partially. Interested doctoral candidates are invited to register on myCUSO. Registration is open all year round. Registrations do not need to be renewed annually.
If you are already registered in another CUSO doctoral programme, you can also be affiliated with the CUSO Doctoral Programme in Gender Studies. To do so, you must contact the programme coordinator directly ( gender(at)cuso(dot)ch ).
Programme start: 1 January 2012.
