Department of Civil Engineering

We are looking for a head for the Developments and Strategic Planning department from 1 October 2026 or by arrangement.
Tasks
- You lead the Developments and Strategic Planning department in terms of personnel, organisation and expertise with 5–7 employees and continuously develop it further.
- As a member of the Traffic and Urban Space management team, you prepare the multi-year plan, prioritise ongoing tasks, topics and projects, and further develop the professional attitude of the division.
- Together with your employees, you analyse social, technological and spatial developments and derive the need for action in the areas of urban space, mobility and traffic.
- You coordinate with your employees the implementation of the Urban Space and Mobility 2040 strategy, review its impact and ensure the necessary foundations and analyses.
- You create the strategic planning prerequisites for the implementation of the Urban Space and Mobility 2040 strategy, prioritise plans and projects (including the agglomeration programme), coordinate with the federal government, canton and neighbouring municipalities, and represent the strategy as well as the interests of the Department of Civil Engineering in various committees.
Profile
- Completed university degree in spatial, mobility and urban planning, geography or comparable education
- Several years of leadership experience as well as experience in integrated urban, traffic and urban space planning
- Leadership strength, flexible and independent working style as well as cooperation and conflict management skills
- Responsible, structured and analytical working style with a desire to shape and performance orientation
- Confident German language skills in spoken and written form, strong team and communication skills as well as enjoyment in working with politics and various interest groups
