Senior Cyber Security Engineer (a)
- 23 October 2026
- 100%
- Permanent position
- German (Fluent)
About the job
Are you familiar with security infrastructures? Then we should talk. Our ICT landscape is large, complex, and has evolved over many years. It connects classic ICT with clinical systems, medical devices, and highly available services. Much works well, some things could be better. That is why I am looking for reinforcement for our Network and Connectivity team. Someone who knows their craft, enjoys working technically, and understands that a secure infrastructure must above all be reliable.
What to expect
- Network Security: You operate and optimise our central firewall and proxy infrastructures with around 60 virtual firewall instances in our data centres. This includes secure network connections, rule sets, and network segmentation
- Security Operations: You analyse complex technical faults and incidents, get to the root of problems, and ensure stable operation together with the team. Demanding changes and updates are also part of this
- Secure Connectivity: You take care of secure access and connections between people, systems, and locations. This also includes topics around VPN, Web Application Firewall, and modern security services
- Further Development: You question existing solutions, contribute your experience to projects such as our zoning concept, and help implement technical improvements during ongoing operations
What you bring
- You have several years of practical experience in engineering and operating complex network and security infrastructures, especially with firewall and proxy solutions
- You understand network architectures, routing, communication flows, and technical dependencies and can analyse even demanding faults in a structured manner
- You have completed an ICT apprenticeship or a comparable qualification with relevant professional experience. A higher technical education at HF or FH level is an advantage
- You are familiar with VPN technologies. Experience with Web Application Firewalls, cloud-related security services, or zero-trust concepts is welcome
- You communicate confidently in German and can also navigate well with English-language technical documents and specialists
- You work independently, reliably, and keep your promises
- You persevere when a technical problem cannot be solved immediately and take responsibility for your work
- You contribute your opinion, listen to others, and share your knowledge with the team
- You do not forget the people behind all the technology. If someone needs support, you look for a solution instead of just referring to responsibilities
Our offer
- A technically versatile infrastructure in a hospital environment where your work makes an important contribution to medical care
- An experienced team that shares knowledge, supports each other, and allows for different opinions
- The opportunity to contribute your experience, improve existing solutions, and develop professionally
- A hybrid working model with up to 40% home office and regular collaboration on site in Bern
- No on-call duty. For planned updates or major changes, there may occasionally be deployments outside usual working hours
- The employment conditions and benefits of the Insel Group
