The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
This innovative system combines specialised hospitalisation and mobile outpatient interventions across the entire canton of Vaud. It is based on close collaboration between medical, nursing, and socio-educational professionals, families, and network partners, to support continuity of care and the maintenance or return to the living environment.
The Epione unit now has five beds dedicated to minor patients. It handles complex situations requiring thorough assessment of somatic, psychiatric, developmental, and environmental factors associated with the crisis, as well as an individualised care plan. Its approach combines medical expertise and psycho-educational support in a setting adapted to patients’ needs.

- Conduct clinical assessments and therapeutic follow-up integrating somatic, psychiatric, and developmental dimensions of behavioural crises
- Participate in the development of care plans with families and the network, risk prevention, and preparation for transitions after hospitalisation.
Within the mobile unit:
- Participate in outpatient clinical activities with patients presenting neurodevelopmental disorders in behavioural crisis, in connection with their living environments and network partners
- Contribute to the assessment of decompensation factors and implementation of appropriate therapeutic interventions, in collaboration with medical and socio-educational teams
- Support coordination of the care pathway and the link between outpatient and hospital care to prevent care discontinuities
- Contribute to clinical supervision and knowledge transfer within the multidisciplinary team, in connection with senior doctors
- Participate in the development of the system and, according to your interest, in innovative clinical research projects led by the service, closely related to care challenges.
