Animal Health and Food Safety
Your Responsibility
- In this role, you actively contribute to maintaining the health status of the Basel-Landschaft animal population.
- You independently manage the implementation of monitoring programmes and assist with handling animal disease cases as well as imports and exports of animals.
- You conduct inspections and independently record inspection results, orders, and criminal complaints, and are responsible for the case file management of the cases assigned to you.
- You communicate with farmers, animal owners, veterinarians, key stakeholders, as well as other cantonal authorities and federal offices.
- You contribute your experience to emergency planning in the area of animal diseases.
- On a small scale, you support our team in the inspection of slaughter animals and meat in the Basel-Landschaft slaughterhouses.
Your Background
- Completed studies in veterinary medicine with a Swiss or recognised diploma
- Certificate of competence as an official veterinarian or willingness to obtain this
- Experience in the enforcement area of the veterinary service and good knowledge in the field of animal diseases, animal disease control, and prevention
- Enjoyment of interdisciplinary collaboration and work with a strong practical focus
- Confident manner and strong communication skills in dealing with animal keepers, professionals, and authorities
- Responsible, independent, and solution-oriented working style
- Good oral and written German skills
- Driving licence category B
