Job Overview

The coordinator of the bistro-café counter (barista bar) is responsible for the entire operation of the semi-public bistro and the barista bar at SHL Medical headquarters in Zug.
The successful candidate ensures a high-quality, reliable, and welcoming catering experience for employees and guests, with a focus on excellent coffee, a structured lunch offer, and professional hospitality in line with established operational, hygiene, and quality standards. You contribute to a positive working atmosphere and represent SHL Medical through a modern, service-oriented, and inclusive approach to catering. For the lunch offer, we collaborate with a bakery.

Main Responsibilities

• Ensuring smooth and efficient operation of the semi-public bistro, including the barista bar
• Maintaining consistently high quality standards for coffee, drinks, and snacks
• Preparing espresso drinks with professional portafilter machines, including daily care and cleaning
• Preparing, regenerating, and serving snacks and small hot dishes according to established processes (iHexagon)
• Providing internal and external guests with professional, friendly service, including handling cashless payments
• Organising and supporting selected catering services as well as business meals at management level
• Coordinating part-time staff during lunch peak hours
• Supervising daily organisation, inventory management, restocking the smart fridge, as well as hygiene and cleanliness
• Ensuring compliance with all hygiene, quality, and safety standards

Minimum Qualifications

• Fluent German (C1)
• Experience operating a bistro, barista bar, or comparable catering establishment
• Confident handling of professional portafilter coffee machines
• Ability and willingness to operate a combi steamer (iHexagon) according to standardised instructions
• High service orientation, quality awareness, and reliability
• Confident use of digital systems (cash register system, ordering and inventory management tools)

Preferred Qualifications

• English B2
• A background or training in gastronomy, hospitality, or a service-related field is advantageous. Relevant practical experience may be considered equivalent.
• Basic knowledge of food hygiene and HACCP principles
• Experience in the hospitality industry in companies, semi-public institutions, or the workplace
