The Salvation Army Switzerland, as a church and social non-profit organisation, offers straightforward support to people in challenging life situations. The Sonnhalde Children’s Home fulfils a service agreement with the Canton of Bern and works with the Cantonal Youth Office, Directorate for the Interior and Justice.Everyone has a childhood they look back on throughout their life. At Sonnhalde, we are committed to ensuring that as supportive and beneficial a childhood and youth as possible is experienced. We offer 24 short-, medium- or long-term places in mixed-age groups in a spacious residential complex in a green setting. Healthy nutrition is important to us. As the main responsible cook, you are in charge of the physical well-being of the children and staff.
Your tasks
- Preparation of meals (lunch and dinner)
- Independent creation of the menu plan with balanced and seasonal components, taking into account diets, intolerances and allergies
- Responsibility for purchasing and inventory management
- Carrying out cleaning tasks to comply with hygiene regulations according to HACCP, as well as their documentation
- Active collaboration with the Head of Internal Services and the kitchen team
Your profile
- Training as a cook with a Federal VET Diploma (EFZ) or several years of experience in community catering
- Ability to understand various contexts (quantity calculation, diets and distribution system)
- Independent and conscientious working style with a sense of quality
- Good oral and written German skills are essential for communication
- IT skills in the MS Office suite
- Enjoyment in working with children and young people
- Identification with the mission statement and values of the Salvation Army
