Job Description
The position advertised is attached to the teachings of Professor Yvan Jeanneret: fundamental elements of criminal procedure (bachelor's degree); criminal procedure, sanctions law and/or road traffic criminal law (master's degree).
The assistant will also be required to perform certain tasks related to other teachings, according to the department's needs.
The terms of reference include supervising students, assisting with the preparation of course materials, supporting the teacher's research, invigilating and marking exams, participating in the activities of the Department of Criminal Law (conferences, seminars, etc.), and the assistant's personal research.
The activity rate at appointment will be 50% for the period from 1st September to 31 December 2026. This rate will increase to 75% from 1st January 2027.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Applicants must have obtained a Master’s degree in law from a Swiss university and demonstrate a strong interest in research in criminal law or criminal procedure.
Those who will obtain their Master’s degree in the August-September 2026 examination session may apply, providing a certificate of success in place of the diploma.
At least passive knowledge of German is a condition of employment.
Applicants must intend to write a doctoral thesis in criminal law or criminal procedure.

The successful candidate will be employed on a two-year contract, renewable for two successive periods, respectively two years and one year. The maximum duration of the assistant position is five years. The first year constitutes a probationary period, during which the employment relationship may be terminated with three months’ notice to the end of a month.
