Start date: January 2026 or by agreement (Application deadline: 15.09.2025)
- You will take on the strategic, personnel, technical, and financial leadership of the focus area "Health and Environmental Analytics" and represent it within and outside the ZHAW.
- You will actively participate in the institute's management and help shape its development.
- You will be responsible for the teaching portfolio in the fields of Applied Statistics, Data Analysis, and Machine Learning in several Bachelor's programs (e.g., Industrial Engineering, Data Science, Mobility Science) as well as in the Master's program Master of Science in Engineering and potentially other programs. Additionally, you will engage in your own teaching in relevant modules.
- You will design, lead, and conduct continuing education offerings (e.g., WBK, CAS, DAS, MAS) and continuously develop them further.
- You will further develop the research group "Health and Environmental Analytics" and strategically expand national and international research projects (e.g., Innosuisse, EU, SNF) in collaboration with universities and companies.
- You will maintain, expand, and lead networks with partners from industry and universities to promote research projects and continuing education, also in interdisciplinary collaboration.
- You will publish your research results, give lectures, and actively engage in professional committees to visibly position the focus area in science and practice.
You have completed a university degree with a doctorate in statistics or a related field and possess solid, proven expertise in statistical methods, data-based model development, and machine learning. Ideally, you also bring a higher education didactic qualification as well as business management knowledge.
You have already gained several years of experience in team leadership and maintain a well-established network in the economic and funding landscape of Switzerland and neighboring Europe. Your research and development activities are characterized by national and international projects, particularly in the health or environmental sector, in which you have successfully acquired funding and led projects.
Furthermore, you have at least five years of industry experience in relevant fields and are well connected in the Swiss and European industry, service, and higher education landscape. Your interest in new technologies is pronounced, and you bring many years of leadership experience in larger teams.
You communicate fluently in German and English, work in a team-oriented manner, are quality-conscious, and have a great enthusiasm for scientific and technical challenges.
The appointment as a professor will be made by the University of Applied Sciences Council upon appropriate qualification.
