About the job
We are ERNI. Since 1994, we have been advising and supporting companies in innovation and technology with the aim of increasing the entrepreneurial performance of our customers and thus paving the way into the digital tomorrow.
Our key to success: People like you and our mindset shaped by Swiss values. We want our customers to be more effective and innovative than anyone else. Together we achieve these high goals – in partnership, as a real team and with real values.
We design processes to be as simple and smart as possible – with around 800 employees at 18 locations in 8 countries and maybe soon with you too!
As a Test Manager Software, you take on a central role at the interface of quality assurance, software engineering and delivery. You ensure that quality is not only checked at the end of a project but is created as an integrated part of the entire software development and delivery process.
You combine strategic test management with a solid understanding of modern software development, test automation, ALM and CI/CD. In doing so, you work closely with development, business analysis, product management, architecture, operations and customer management and help teams to jointly improve quality, delivery capability and technical sustainability.
In customer projects, you take responsibility for test strategy, test organisation and quality control. You move confidently between management level and technical details, develop pragmatic solutions for project-specific conditions and enable teams to use modern tools and AI-supported approaches such as Claude or Claude Code responsibly for test activities.
What to expect:
You work as an integrated role in software delivery closely with development, business analysis, product management, architecture, operations and customer management and ensure quality throughout the entire software development and delivery process.
Strategic planning, control and responsibility for test activities in complex, business-critical IT projects – including the creation of business cases for test deployment
Creation of test strategies, test concepts and test plans as well as continuous further development of the test process beyond individual projects
Technical leadership, coaching and targeted competence building of local as well as nearshore and offshore test teams
You ensure that test activities are appropriately integrated into software delivery processes, development workflows and CI/CD pipelines.
You monitor deadlines, dependencies, risks and test progress and create transparent test reports for project and management stakeholders.
Responsibility for defect management and advising our customers on optimising their test processes and tools
You build up and further develop appropriate test automation together with the development team. In doing so, you support the selection of suitable automation approaches and ensure sustainable integration into the delivery process.
You support the responsible use of AI in the test environment and guide development teams on how tools such as Claude or Claude Code can be sensibly used for test analysis, test case design, test data, test automation and test evaluation.
What you bring:
A university degree (ETH, university, FH, HF) in computer science, business informatics or a comparable qualification
At least 3–5 years of experience in software testing, including several years in a leading role as test manager or test lead
Proven leadership experience in managing local as well as nearshore or offshore teams, including competence building and mentoring
Sound knowledge in test conception, test management, defect management and quality assurance as well as experience in creating business cases and in organisation-wide test process improvement
A good understanding of modern test automation, CI/CD and agile software development; practical, preferably several years of hands-on experience in developing or further developing automated tests is an advantage.
Experience with ALM and test management tools such as Jira, Xray, Zephyr and Azure DevOps (among others), as well as the ability to evaluate tools based on project requirements and integrate them into a larger project and documentation landscape.
Experience with traceability of requirements, tests, defects and releases as well as with creating or exporting quality-relevant documentation for project and product deliverables.
Practical experience with AI-supported software engineering or coding, for example with Claude or Claude Code, and the ability to guide development teams in the sensible use of AI for test activities. You also understand the limits, risks and necessary review and approval mechanisms. An ISTQB certification at Foundation Level (CTFL)
Very good German and English skills
Therefore, we offer you:
Individual development programme that promotes your professional and personal potential
Remote work up to 5 weeks per year outside Switzerland, but within Europe
Flexible working hours for an ideal balance between work and private life
Unforgettable team and company events that strengthen cohesion
Generous pension fund participation, where we cover two thirds of the pension contributions while your share is only one third
