For one of our clients from the federal administration environment in Bern, we are looking for an experienced Senior Workplace / System Engineer with solid expertise in Microsoft technologies as well as Linux/Open Source.
You will work together with a Technical Project Manager / Solution Architect in a two-person team. Your focus is on the technical analysis of existing Microsoft environments, the investigation of dependencies on Microsoft Office, and the development and evaluation of interoperable open-source solution variants. The programme aims to reduce critical dependencies in office automation and enable parallel operation between Microsoft and alternative solutions.
Your tasks include:
- Technical analysis of existing Microsoft/Workplace environments
- Analysis of specialised applications regarding their dependencies on Microsoft Office
- Investigation of the compatibility of specialised applications with open-source software
- Technical assessment of Microsoft and open-source solutions
- Development and evaluation of various solution variants for Microsoft/OSS interoperability
- Analysis of technical dependencies, interfaces and integrations
- Participation in feasibility analyses, compatibility assessments and technical concepts
- Support in the creation of test, migration and implementation concepts
- Participation in technical workshops with architecture, engineering, security and operations specialists
- Technical support of the project manager / solution architect in decision-making bases and solution designs
- Several years of experience as a Senior Linux Engineer / Linux Architect
- Very good knowledge of Linux enterprise environments
- Experience with Linux architecture design and technical evaluations
- Experience with container technologies (Docker / Kubernetes / Podman or similar)
- Solid understanding of security concepts (hardening, isolation, identity access)
- Experience in datacentre, cloud or on-premises Linux environments
- Very good German as well as French language skills
- Impeccable reputation
