Company Description
The Official Youth Foundation (FOJ) aims to promote the psycho-social development of children, adolescents and young people in difficulty, in collaboration with parents and partner institutions. Bound by a service contract with the State of Geneva, the FOJ is committed to the protection and defence of the interests of the child.
Serving families in the canton, it operates through four main areas of action: child welfare , emergency reception , family support and preparation for autonomy .
To fulfil its mission, the institution manages 47 facilities across the Canton of Geneva and has 500 places for minors and young adults, offering outpatient educational services at home. The FOJ employs 670 staff members.
To successfully carry out its mission, the FOJ regularly seeks civilians for its various facilities to provide help and support to the educational team. We are looking for a civilian early childhood educational assistant for its Home Maison Altaï , which provides medium and long-term care for babies and very young children aged 0 to 5 years.
Job Description
Civilian positions are only for persons officially admitted to civilian service by the Federal Office of Civilian Service.
70% Daily support of children
Under the supervision of an educator, the civilian:
- Meets the child’s basic needs (hygiene, feeding)
- Ensures presence, care and safety
- Establishes a trusting relationship with the child
- Observes the child, monitors and supports their development
- Co-leads activities appropriate to the child’s age
- Facilitates each child’s integration into the group
- Participates in daily life situations
- Encourages free play and the child’s initiative
- Helps organise the child’s time (daily rhythm) and space
- Uses materials that promote discovery and the child’s awakening
- Sets clear boundaries and limits.
30% Maintenance
- Supports the educational team with logistical and daily maintenance tasks, including washing dishes and equipment (loading and unloading the dishwasher, cleaning children’s chairs, disinfecting toys), caring for and maintaining prams, waste management (sorting and taking out bins), cleaning outdoor areas, carrying out minor repairs and routine tasks, assembling furniture, tidying premises and vehicle maintenance.
Activity rate: 100%
Working hours: 7:00 am–8:30 pm (40 hours per week) - Weekends and public holidays off
Start date: as soon as possible, to be agreed during the interview
Duration of assignment: 6 months

Qualifications
- Strong motivation to work with children from birth to 5 years old
- Patience, common sense and constant vigilance to ensure the safety of very young children
- Knowledge of basic hygiene principles, early childhood development, and essential care such as changing a baby
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
