The waters and soils of Zurich are habitats for a variety of plants and animals. They form the basis for a reliable supply of high-quality drinking water and serve as local recreational areas. The Office for Waste, Water, Energy and Air (AWEL) examines water and soil samples for pollutants and assesses their condition. As part of the national and cantonal surface water and groundwater monitoring, the waters are tested for organic trace substances such as pharmaceutical residues and pesticides.
Your Tasks
The focus is on sample preparation and instrumental analysis, such as the measurement and evaluation of water samples using state-of-the-art GC-APCI-MS/MS methods. The internship also offers the opportunity to gain insight into other specialist areas of AWEL.
Your Profile
You have a completed Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemistry, Environmental Sciences or a similar field and want to get to know the area of environmental analysis better. High motivation and interest in working in the laboratory, as well as precise and careful working methods, are natural for you.
