About the job
Fixed-term position
Office for Building Permits
Due to a recent revision of the building and zoning regulations, private second homes and business apartments no longer count towards the permissible residential share under certain conditions. This means that private second homes and business apartments must be checked for their legality and, if necessary, converted to lawful use.
To ensure a swift and smooth enforcement, we are looking for a committed and quality-conscious individual for our task force on a fixed-term basis for three years. The informal culture at the Office for Building Permits starts with us even before the first day of work. Therefore, we allow ourselves to address you informally.
Tasks
- In connection with short-term rentals, you support and advise the involved employees of the Office for Building Permits as well as the Building Section (building permit authority of the City of Zurich) in particularly complex, demanding or politically sensitive matters.
- In addition, you represent the Building Section and the Office for Building Permits in legal appeal procedures (especially concerning short-term rentals). You also handle requests for access to files under the Information and Data Protection Act of the Canton of Zurich (especially concerning short-term rentals).
- Your responsibilities also include the legal examination of building permit applications and answering complex legal questions related to public building law and associated legal areas (e.g. environmental protection law).
- Handling written enquiries, interpellations, postulates and motions from the municipal council also belongs to your tasks.
- You work closely with internal specialist departments, authorities and other stakeholders and make an important contribution to legally compliant, uniform and effective enforcement practice.
Profile
- You have a completed degree in law from a Swiss university.
- You preferably have practical experience in the field of public building and planning law, the permitting system and/or sovereign enforcement.
- Your analytical thinking, methodical approach, transparent communication style and negotiation skills distinguish you.
- You also have confidence in handling databases, registers and electronic case management systems.
- We count on your initiative and openness to new things.
- In addition, you bring flexibility and a touch of humour.
- Your confident oral and written expression in German completes your profile.
We offer
- You are part of a motivated, multi-generational team and a performance- as well as people-oriented corporate culture (informal culture).
- We ensure a thorough introduction as well as a varied and versatile activity.
- Our attractive employment conditions are contemporary and include above-average social benefits.
- We also offer you flexible working hours, the possibility of mobile working and office premises in close proximity to the main station.
- The position is limited to three years. Possible follow-up opportunities can be examined if interested and with the appropriate professional qualifications.
