System Engineer On-Premises Platform (22183 / 60%)

Task

For a client, a public administration in the canton of Lucerne, we are looking for an experienced System Engineer On-Premises Platform who ensures the stable operation of a versatile IT infrastructure and actively contributes to its further development. You will work in a well-coordinated infrastructure team and bring your experience in virtualisation, server operation, and automation.

• Ensuring the stable, secure, and high-performance operation of the on-premises infrastructure including monitoring and 2nd-/3rd-level support
• Operation and further development of virtualisation environments with VMware and Proxmox VE
• Participation in the setup and expansion of the container platform with Red Hat OpenShift and Docker
• Administration, maintenance, and optimisation of Windows and Linux servers
• Automation and standardisation of recurring tasks using PowerShell, Ansible/AWX, and CI/CD pipelines
• Further development of monitoring, alerting, and dashboards for proactive platform operation
• Participation in migrations, lifecycle management, and infrastructure projects
• Creation and maintenance of technical documentation as well as knowledge transfer to the internal team

Requirements

Must-have requirements:

• Completed IT education (EFZ with further training, HF, FH, or comparable qualification)
• Several years of practical experience as a System Engineer or Platform Engineer in the operation of complex on-premises infrastructures
• Sound knowledge of virtualisation technologies, especially VMware or comparable solutions
• Good knowledge of Windows Server and Linux
• Practical experience in automation with PowerShell, Ansible, or CI/CD
• Very good German language skills and understanding of Swiss German
• Team-oriented personality with clear communication and enthusiasm for knowledge transfer

Advantages include:

• Experience with container technologies such as Red Hat OpenShift, Kubernetes, or Docker
• Advanced knowledge of Ansible/AWX and monitoring solutions
• Knowledge of storage, SAN, and backup environments, for example Huawei Storage, Cisco SAN, Veeam, or NetVault
• Experience with patch management (WSUS, Azure Update Manager)
• Experience in public administrations or larger IT operations organisations
