About the job
Working Student in Applicant Management in Management Consulting
📍Cologne, Büren or remote in DE · Start from January 2027 · Working student (up to 20 hours per week possible)Important: 95% applicant management, hardly any personnel marketing. You will manage our applications for consulting junior staff, from receipt to offer. Ideally, you stay for 1–2 years, not just one semester.
For our junior consultants, we are looking for someone who does not just mechanically process tasks but drives them forward: You know the status of every application, follow up before anyone asks, and keep all parties informed. No Canva and no campaigns, but inbox, calendar and pipeline. You are the reason why no one waits three weeks for a response with us. And because you take on more responsibility after training, the role becomes more enjoyable each month.
What to expect
- Review and classify applications: You check incoming applications, give an initial assessment of the position and forward suitable profiles to our team leaders at various locations.
- Coordinate selection processes: You schedule interviews, coordinate appointments with applicants and internal contacts, and always know the status of each application.
- Candidate experience: You are the central contact person for applicants, both in writing and by phone. You request missing documents, provide updates in case of delays, and communicate the next steps for applicants.
- Keep the pipeline under control: You ensure that nothing is left pending and every application receives feedback. For this, you maintain close contact with the specialist departments and applicants.
- Manage job advertisements: You publish and update our ads on various channels.
- Provide figures: Once a month, you prepare our recruiting statistics: application entries by location and channel, withdrawals, hires.
- Support personnel marketing (<5%): Depending on current projects, you may assist in designing recruiting materials or preparing and conducting career fairs.
What you bring
Must-haves:
- At least two semesters completed in a bachelor’s degree, e.g. with a focus on human resources management, business administration, business psychology or similar. You must be enrolled (please feel free to send proof directly here!)
- A very careful working style and the ability to keep an overview, even when several processes run simultaneously.
- Friendly, reliable and professional communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Very good German (at least C1 level) and solid knowledge of digital collaboration, e.g. with MS Office.
- You use common AI tools confidently and responsibly.
- You can imagine staying for 1–2 years.
Ideally:
- You have some experience in recruiting or applicant management.
- And have already worked with an applicant management system.
Honestly: This role is not for you if you are mainly looking for creative personnel marketing projects or strategic HR topics. You will do a lot of reviewing, following up, scheduling appointments and writing emails, as well as recurring administrative tasks. If, on the other hand, you enjoy organising, keeping dozens of parallel processes in view and want to offer applicants a really good process, then you fit with us.
Don’t meet all requirements? Carefulness, open communication and willingness to take responsibility count more. We will teach you all UNITY processes and systems in a structured way.
Your opportunities at UNITY

- Flexibility for your studies: Whether exam phase or other commitments – you can organise your hours to fit your life and recruiting tasks.
- Real perspective: It is also possible to write your thesis with us if the topic fits.
- Equality: Flat hierarchies, informal culture, your contribution counts.
- Structured onboarding: A fixed contact person supports you during training.
