Assistant Physician in the Autism Spectrum Disorders Service
We are seeking an Assistant Physician with an activity rate between 80% and 100% for the Autism Spectrum Disorders & Related Conditions Service (STSA) within the Department of Psychiatry in Lausanne. The starting date is 1 May 2026 or to be agreed.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital Centre (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Department of Psychiatry (DP) serves all three life stages. It encompasses the Central, Western, and Northern psychiatric sectors of the canton. Its mission is the comprehensive and multidisciplinary care of children, adolescents, adults, and elderly people suffering from mental disorders.
The Autism Spectrum Disorders & Related Conditions Service is a structure within the CHUV Department of Psychiatry dedicated to autism spectrum disorders. It coordinates and brings together all the structures attached to it in the canton of Vaud, structures involved in supporting people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) throughout their life course, and serves as a reference point in the canton of Vaud.
Comprising a tertiary centre, hospitalisation and diagnostic units, and regional structures, its activity is conducted in close partnership with professionals working within the structures and professionals involved in autism spectrum disorders.
It consists of multidisciplinary teams including psychiatrists, psychologists, neuropsychologists, neuropediatricians, nurses, psychomotor therapists, speech therapists, specialised educators, and researchers who work in close collaboration.
The missions of the Autism Spectrum Disorders & Related Conditions Service focus on diagnosis, care, and support for minors and adults with ASD, network training, and clinical research. The structures attached to the ASD service include the cantonal autism centre, regional diagnostic units, two early intervention centres, a specialised kindergarten class, mobile teams for children/adults, a mental development psychiatry section, hospitalisation units, a CHUV reception facility for people with autism spectrum disorder or intellectual disability, and support groups.
Mission
We are particularly looking for individuals accustomed to working with children, adolescents, or adults with neurodevelopmental disorders and trained in developmental and cognitive-behavioural approaches in ASD.
- You will provide clinical activity within the STSA
- You will supervise the physicians of the service
- You will participate, as part of a multidisciplinary team, in the diagnostic evaluation of patients
- You will handle administrative activities related to the aforementioned clinical activity
- You will participate in clinical research activities conducted within the ASD Service
- You will participate in teaching and training conducted within the ASD Service
- You will assist the head of service in setting up new procedures or strategies and managing existing structures.
Profile
- You hold a Swiss federal medical diploma with a specialisation in child psychiatry or psychiatry or a title recognised by the Federal Commission of Medical Professions (MEBEKO)
- You have extensive clinical and research experience in ASD, particularly in children
- You possess excellent management, leadership, and communication skills
- You have experience in a position of responsibility with team leadership
- You are able to work in a multidisciplinary team
- You master French or have the capacity to acquire it quickly (level B2).
