As part of the research unit 'Forest Health and Biotic Interactions', the research group Phytopathology investigates fungal diseases of trees, especially those caused by invasive pathogens.Within the framework of scientific-technical cooperation in forest protection with the Federal Office for the Environment FOEN, the Phytopathology group offers from July 2026 or by arrangement a position for two years (with the option of extension), as
You will perform routine diagnostics in the plant protection laboratory using molecular biological methods to identify harmful organisms (including fungi, insects, nematodes, and bacteria). Furthermore, you will contribute to the development and establishment of new diagnostic methods as well as field surveys on the occurrence of harmful organisms. Additionally, you will support research projects, the operation and maintenance of the plant protection laboratory, as well as students and guests in the laboratory.
You have completed training as a laboratory technician EFZ, specializing in biology, and possess solid knowledge in the application of molecular biological methods such as DNA extraction, Sanger sequencing, and quantitative PCR. Experience with environmental samples and plant pests is an advantage. Good German and English skills as well as a strong quality awareness are required. You enjoy working independently and carefully in a dynamic team.
