We are looking for you to start immediately or by arrangement, on a fixed-term contract for 18 months.

Research Associate, 80%

Your tasks:

In this role, you will take on a variety of tasks within the project team for a new exhibition featuring works from the Emil Bührle Collection, which is held as a permanent loan at the Kunsthaus Zürich. You will research the history of this collection, which includes highlights of French Impressionism, as well as selected works, working closely with the Provenance Research Department and the research associate in the Collection area. You will also be responsible for the careful documentation and data management of the exhibition project.

Another focus of your work will be the content development and communication of the exhibition. You will write and edit exhibition texts such as wall texts and object labels, coordinating these closely with the Head of Collection and Research as well as the external curator. You will coordinate the content alignment between the core team and the curators. Furthermore, you will compile or write texts for internal and public communication in close collaboration with the Head of Collection and Research.

You will actively contribute to the development and implementation of the exhibition, working closely with the project coordinator and other involved persons and departments.

Your profile:

• Completed studies in art history with a focus on French Impressionism and Post-Impressionism
• Experience in provenance research, ideally in the context of Nazi-looted art or Jewish collection history
• Experience in writing scholarly, mediation-oriented texts
• Experience in museum work
• Very good German and English skills, ideally also French
• Team player, precise, structured, punctual and independent working style, flexibility, cross-departmental thinking
