As of August 1, 2026, a professorship in European and Economic International Law will be filled at the Faculty of Law of the University of Bern in the Department of Economic Law. Depending on the qualifications of the appointed person, the professorship will be filled as a full professorship, an extraordinary professorship, or an assistant professorship with tenure track.
Successor to Prof. Dr. Michael Hahn
The core tasks include the teaching of the general foundations in the field of European and Economic International Law (notably international trade law and including the legal relations of Switzerland with the EU), the management of the Institute for European and Economic International Law, as well as the representation of these subjects in teaching and research in coordination with the other institutes of the Department of Economic Law. The existing close cooperation with the World Trade Institute (WTI) in the field of foreign trade law is to be continued.
A completed habilitation (or a significantly advanced habilitation project) or an equivalent scientific qualification as well as teaching experience, further excellent scientific achievements in the relevant field, and the ability to teach in English are required. Research performance will be evaluated according to DORA principles.
