Your tasks:
You actively shape the future of applied mathematics at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland.
In this versatile professorship, you combine scientific expertise with practice-oriented teaching and interdisciplinary research.
Your main tasks:
- Acquisition, management, and execution of projects in the field of applied mathematics, especially data science and multiphysics simulation
- Training students in mathematics in various bachelor's degree programs in computer science and engineering (basic and advanced courses)
- Supervision of project, bachelor, and master theses
- Participation in interdisciplinary research projects within FHNW as well as with external partners
You contribute to ensuring that FHNW students experience mathematics as a key to innovation – understandable, application-oriented, and inspiring.
Your profile:
You are a committed, team-oriented individual with enthusiasm for teaching, research, and applied development.
You have:
- a university degree in applied mathematics, statistics, physics, or a related field, ideally with a doctorate
- several years of industry experience in applied mathematics (e.g., computational engineering, data science, statistics, modeling)
- proven experience in acquiring, managing, and conducting application-oriented research projects
- a sustainable network of partners from industry, research, and society
- the ability and willingness to build a small research team and establish research collaborations
- a strong pedagogical flair and the joy of conveying complex content in an understandable and practice-related manner
- a higher education didactic qualification or the willingness to acquire it within the first years
