Your tasks:

You actively shape the future of applied mathematics at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland.

In this versatile professorship, you combine scientific expertise with practice-oriented teaching and interdisciplinary research.

Your main tasks:

Acquisition, management, and execution of projects in the field of applied mathematics, especially data science and multiphysics simulation
Training students in mathematics in various bachelor's degree programs in computer science and engineering (basic and advanced courses)
Supervision of project, bachelor, and master theses
Participation in interdisciplinary research projects within FHNW as well as with external partners

You contribute to ensuring that FHNW students experience mathematics as a key to innovation – understandable, application-oriented, and inspiring.

Your profile:

You are a committed, team-oriented individual with enthusiasm for teaching, research, and applied development.

You have:

a university degree in applied mathematics, statistics, physics, or a related field, ideally with a doctorate
several years of industry experience in applied mathematics (e.g., computational engineering, data science, statistics, modeling)
proven experience in acquiring, managing, and conducting application-oriented research projects
a sustainable network of partners from industry, research, and society
the ability and willingness to build a small research team and establish research collaborations
a strong pedagogical flair and the joy of conveying complex content in an understandable and practice-related manner
a higher education didactic qualification or the willingness to acquire it within the first years
