The Communication & Fundraising Department is responsible for the positioning and public appearance of Caritas Zurich, internal and external communication, fundraising, as well as social-political lobbying. It thereby strengthens the perception and impact of Caritas Zurich and makes a significant contribution to the sustainable financing of our services. On behalf of the German-speaking Swiss regional organisations, Caritas Zurich also manages the Communication Office within the Caritas network.
From 1 December 2026 or by arrangement, we are looking for an experienced and committed leader as Head of Communication and Member of the Executive Board (80%). Your tasks
You are responsible for the strategic and operational management of the Communication & Fundraising Department. The positioning and appearance of Caritas Zurich as well as the further development of the communication strategy are your responsibility. In addition, you are responsible for the following tasks:
- Leading a team of eight specialised employees
- Fundraising strategy: implementation and further development of an effective, sustainable fundraising
- Management of communication and fundraising channels
- Advising the management and those responsible for services on internal/external communication and positioning
- Representation towards media, public and committees as well as participation in social-political lobbying
- Responsibility for the Communication Office within the Caritas network on behalf of the German-speaking Swiss regional organisations
- Co-shaping the strategic direction and further development of Caritas Zurich as an Executive Board member
You are a strategic, proactive and solution-oriented leader with a flair for communication, social developments and effective fundraising. You combine conceptual strength with implementation skills, win both stakeholders and employees for common goals and also bring the following:
- Solid education in communication, PR, marketing, fundraising or a comparable field
- Several years of professional and leadership experience in communication/marketing, preferably in the non-profit sector
- Proven experience in developing and implementing fundraising strategies
- Experience with integrated communication strategies and cross-media campaigns
- Entrepreneurial thinking as well as business management understanding
- Confidence in handling digital communication and fundraising channels as well as openness to new technologies
- Interest in social-political and societal issues
