What you will do with us

The Project Office is part of the Building Construction Department within the Directorate of Construction, Energy and Environment of the City of Biel. It manages new construction projects as well as projects for the conversion of buildings in the municipal property portfolio.

The diverse portfolio includes, among others, school, sports, cultural and administrative buildings. Several structures are of special architectural or historical value.

With its projects, the City of Biel aims to set an example and lead by good example in terms of architectural quality, sustainability and responsible use of public resources.

For the management of this strategic office, we are looking for an architect with experience and solid management skills as well as the motivation to implement ambitious public projects.

• Do you like to combine architectural quality with sustainability?
• Would you like to manage complex construction and conversion projects from the planning phase to completion?
• Are you motivated by public projects with a high exemplary character and sustainable impact?
• Do you enjoy leading a team of professionals and developing a shared vision?
• Are you communicative and able to write clear, structured reports?
• Do you speak German or French and would you like to work in a stimulating bilingual environment?

What you ideally bring with you

• University degree (university or university of applied sciences) in architecture or equivalent training
• Proven experience in managing larger construction and conversion projects, ideally in the public sector
• Sound knowledge of building standards, public procurement and tendering procedures
• Experience in leading a team and managing numerous projects
• High building culture, sensitivity to sustainability, energy and construction quality
