Role:

A network shows its true quality only when something goes wrong. As a specialist in routing, switching & firewall, you ensure that it never comes to that. In an emergency, you find the cause quickly. The focus is on a provider infrastructure based on Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) and Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS). You combine technical depth with customer proximity and bring your solutions from concept to rack.

Responsibilities:

• You keep the core and access networks stable, continuously optimise them, and drive their technical development forward

• You independently plan complex Layer-2 and Layer-3 solutions and implement dynamic routing architectures including MPLS services

• For customer projects and the internal environment, you develop well-thought-out firewall, NAT, ACL, and VPN solutions

• You take on demanding cases in 3rd-level support and clarify root causes down to the protocol level

• Furthermore, you are responsible for migrations, firmware upgrades, and lifecycle measures and integrate new customers and systems cleanly

• You also work hands-on in data centre projects, conduct network audits, and optimise capacity and performance

Qualifications:

• You have at least 3 years of experience in network and security engineering, ideally with a service provider or carrier

• You are confident with TCP/IP, routing, switching as well as IPv4 and IPv6, and also with VLAN, STP/RSTP, trunking, link aggregation, and segmentation

• You work proficiently with BGP, understand peering concepts and route selection, and have operated Layer-2 and Layer-3 services in a provider network

• Firewalls, NAT, ACLs as well as site-to-site and remote-access VPNs are part of your toolkit, and you are familiar with redundancy and failover concepts from practice

• For troubleshooting, you rely on Wireshark, logs, and traffic analyses and have already networked several data centres or locations

• Additionally, you bring know-how with Cisco, Fortinet or other enterprise manufacturers, communicate fluently in German, and read English technical documentation effortlessly
