Legal Debt Collection Officer

Processing legal debt enforcement requests: In the event of an objection in the debt enforcement procedure, you independently prepare legal debt enforcement requests, compile the attachments and send them to the competent court.

Review of write-offs: For uncollectible claims, you regularly check their realisability and prepare reports for the State Secretariat for Migration.

Other exciting tasks: You handle written enquiries from debtors and gain insight into the activities of the cantonal debt collection office. You work in a small team and support it in day-to-day business.

Temporary position with prospects: The advertised position is limited as a maternity cover. Within this framework, you take on a responsible role and gain comprehensive insight into the area of activity.

Experience: You have initial professional experience and preferably experience dealing with a variety of clients. We also welcome applications from career changers and those re-entering the workforce.

Personality: You possess a confident written and oral expression, are resilient, work efficiently and place great value on good quality. You remain calm and composed even in demanding conversations.

Education: You have completed a commercial apprenticeship with a Federal VET Diploma (EFZ).

Language: Good German skills, both spoken and written, are a matter of course for you; additional language skills are an advantage.

The Tax Administration of the Canton of Basel-Stadt belongs to the Department of Finance and is responsible for the assessment and collection of cantonal tax, direct federal tax as well as national and international supplementary taxes. The Tax Collection and Cantonal Debt Collection division employs 26 staff members and one apprentice. We are responsible for correct invoicing and dunning in the tax area as well as for the collection of all claims of the canton. We are available for payment queries, grant payment facilities, decide on procedural steps in debt enforcement proceedings and are responsible for managing loss certificates.
