Context
The SCEA of the CHUV is the reference centre for the Canton of Vaud in its field. To ensure optimal care for surgical pathologies in children, and operating in a network with regional hospitals, the Department functions in a university environment while collaborating closely with other CHUV services. Paediatric surgery, being the specialised field for treating surgical conditions of the growing body, treats children with congenital malformations, diseases, or consequences of accidents; it includes preoperative investigations, surgical treatments, and peri-/postoperative care from the prenatal period until the end of growth. The comprehensive management of all conditions aims to optimise development for a good quality of life, while considering and involving the family and social environment. The teams, providing 24/7 care, can rely on an exceptional technical platform to perform simple or complex interventions in many areas of paediatric surgery.

- Ensure and lead undergraduate (according to FBM needs), postgraduate (ISFM training centre cat. A1) and continuing education missions in the discipline, being the official person responsible for the discipline.
- Guarantee a quality medical and scientific succession, consolidate the influence of the clinical and academic field both internally and externally, and collaborate with hospitals of the Vaud Hospitals Federation (FHV) and neighbouring cantons.
