For the Public Prosecutor's Office Bern-Mittelland in Bern, we are looking for an assistant public prosecutor as of 1 January 2027.

Your tasks

• Manage criminal proceedings – together with the responsible public prosecutors
• Systematically record, manage and archive documents related to assigned cases
• Keep track of appointments, deadlines and procedural steps
• Conduct correspondence with parties involved and authorities – independently or based on templates
• Organise hearings including scheduling, preparation and minute-taking
• Periodic on-call duty to support the on-call public prosecutor

Your profile

• Commercial training or equivalent qualification
• Interest in legal topics, preferably with experience from a court, a law firm, etc.
• Ability to set the right priorities and manage various tasks simultaneously – even in difficult situations
• Good knowledge of French (at least B1)
• Confident German language skills – also for demanding texts

The Public Prosecutor's Office is responsible for enforcing the state's criminal claims. It conducts the preliminary proceedings, prosecutes offences within the scope of investigations, files charges if necessary and represents these charges in court. In minor cases, it issues a penal order. Organisationally, the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Canton of Bern consists of the Office of the Attorney General, three public prosecutor's offices for the entire canton area (one public prosecutor's office for the prosecution of economic crimes, one public prosecutor's office for special tasks and one public prosecutor's office for juvenile criminal matters), as well as four regional public prosecutor's offices (Berner Jura-Seeland, Emmental-Oberaargau, Bern-Mittelland and Oberland).
