About the job
Field Service Technician (m/f/d)
80–100%, starting immediately or by arrangement, Widen AG (Zurich region) – with assignments at customer sites
What awaits you at Aliva
Aliva is a Swiss mechanical engineering company with a team of around 30 people, part of the international Normet Group with 1,800 employees. We develop and build machines for shotcrete, which are used worldwide, among other things, in tunnel construction and for securing excavation pits.
Our machines operate where downtime is costly: in tunnels, on construction sites, often far from Widen. When one stops, you are the person who comes. You are the face of Aliva to the customer – and often the reason why they order from us again next time. Service is an area we are expanding. For this, we are looking for you.
What you do
- You independently carry out maintenance, overhauls and repairs on rotor machines and associated systems – at the customer’s site and, if necessary, at our factory.
- You identify faults directly on the machine and fix them: mechanically, electrically, pneumatically and, depending on the machine, hydraulically.
- You install new or refurbished machines at the customer’s site, test them, commission them and document the functional check.
- You document every assignment fully and promptly: work performed, defects found, spare parts used, working hours and recommended next steps.
There are two things that make this position special:
- You are more than just the mechanic at the customer: you instruct operating and maintenance personnel, train them in safe operation, maintenance and wear parts – and advise on machine condition, maintenance needs and improvements.
- What you see in the field does not stay in the field: recurring problems, technical anomalies and suggestions for improvement go directly from you to Technical Support and Engineering. In complex cases, you solve them together.
What is important to us
We are a small team. That is why how we work together matters.
- We keep our promises. If something does not work as planned, we address it early.
- We address things directly – openly and respectfully. Even with the boss.
- We think beyond our own area and keep other teams, service and our customers in focus.
- We make decisions independently where possible. Ask questions where necessary.
- We want to develop ourselves. We help each other with this – the drive comes from each individual.
What you get
- Lots of independence: on the construction site you decide. And a team in Widen you can call anytime if you get stuck.
- Variety that you don’t have to invent: different construction site, different people, different problem.
- A supervisor who gives you clear and honest feedback and supports you in your development.
- Development opportunities that suit you – whether towards leadership, technical specialisation or, if you wish, also in an international environment.
And all this with attractive conditions: 40-hour week with annual working time, at least 25 days holiday, very good pension fund conditions, fully covered accident and daily sickness allowance insurance, service vehicle, free parking and discounts in the staff restaurant.
What you bring
- A technical basic education, for example as a construction or agricultural machinery mechanic, polymechanic or automation technician.
- Experience in service or maintenance of machines, including hydraulics and electrics. Ideally, you know construction machines or construction sites from the inside.
- Confident handling of technical drawings, schematics and parts lists. You document neatly, even after a long day.
- You like working alone and decide on site – and know when to call.
- Driving licence category B and willingness to undertake assignments with overnight stays, in Switzerland and abroad.
- Good German and English skills; French or Italian are a plus on our construction sites.
What this position is not
Not a job for someone who wants to be home by five o’clock every evening or finds a construction site in a tunnel unpleasant. You are on the move, it is loud, it is dirty, and sometimes it has to be quick. And if you also dislike phrases like "It’s not my job" and "We’ve always done it this way," then you are exactly right with us.
Sounds good?
Then we look forward to hearing from you. A CV and a few sentences explaining why this position suits you are enough. Would you like to get an impression beforehand or have a quick phone call? Liliane Farkas, +41 79 467 70 54, will be happy to take the time.
