Uster, the third largest city in the canton of Zurich, is a dynamically growing city in the Zurich metropolitan area with around 37,000 inhabitants and is known as an innovative regional centre.
At the Social Services of the city of Uster, the person is at the centre. We advise and support people in different life situations – professionally, respectfully and solution-oriented. Due to a retirement, we are looking for a motivated person in the area of "Social Counselling and Asylum Coordination" for the Social Counselling team from 1 November 2026 or by arrangement as
Social Worker 80%
Your main tasks
- You provide economic social assistance and accompany people on the path to more stability and independence
- You advise people on social, health, legal and financial issues
- You support and promote their professional and social integration
- You clarify entitlements to subsidiary benefits and ensure their utilisation
- You manage your cases and files independently and develop and implement decisions
- You work closely with your specialist team as well as with internal and external specialist offices, institutions, insurance companies and authorities
- You contribute your experience and ideas and actively help shape the further development of our area
What you bring with you
- You have a university of applied sciences degree in social work or an equivalent qualification
- Ideally, you have experience in statutory social assistance
- You meet people in stressful situations appreciatively, respectfully and on an equal footing
- You have advisory and negotiation skills and work independently, well organised and reliably even in demanding situations
- You are committed, willing to learn and enjoy contributing to working groups and helping to shape change
- You express yourself confidently and appropriately for the target audience, both orally and in writing
- Administrative tasks suit you, and you have a good understanding of numbers
- You work confidently with MS Office; knowledge of the specialist application KLIB is an advantage
