Social Worker in a Medical Environment - Liaison Psychiatry Service

The Liaison Psychiatry Service is seeking a social worker between 80% and 90% for its emergency and crisis unit at CHUV.

Context

The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.

The Liaison Psychiatry Service (PLI) responds to psychiatric care requests for patients hospitalised at CHUV. It includes a psychiatric emergency reception unit (PLIU) for the population of Lausanne and its region, the management of the Vaud Psychological Unit (CPV), and a care unit for patients with eating disorders - the Vaud Anorexia Bulimia Centre (abC) - with an outpatient/day centre located in Lausanne and an inpatient unit at the St-Loup Hospital of the Northern Vaud Hospital Establishments (eHnv).

The five units of the PLI:

• The CHUV liaison consultation unit
• The emergency and crisis unit which receives psychiatric emergencies and offers crisis follow-ups
• The specialised liaison psychiatry unit
• The gender/transgender dysphoria consultation
• abC - Vaud Anorexia Bulimia Centre which operates on 2 sites, at the Lausanne-CHUV area and the Saint-Loup area.

Mission

• You conduct psychosocial assessments and follow-up of beneficiaries presenting social issues
• In collaboration with the medical-nursing team and the patient, you seek appropriate solutions
• You carry out social assessments to define intervention priorities and adapt your intervention accordingly
• You identify and evaluate with the patient and/or their relatives the difficulties of daily life
• You inform, guide and/or support the patient and their relatives in concrete procedures: administrative, professional, legal and relational
• You travel within the community or to network partners to carry out accompaniment procedures with beneficiaries (institutional visits, home, CSR, justice of the peace, etc.)
• You work in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, with the unit’s partners and the Vaud medico-social network
• You investigate to assess the role and skills of actors present in the primary and secondary social networks of patients
• You apply a continuous improvement dynamic related to your therapeutic and prevention activity
• You adapt care according to the person’s progress. You master this approach while respecting the protocols and care guidelines in force in the service as well as the institution’s clinical practice recommendations.

Profile

• You hold a Bachelor of Arts HES-SO in Social Work or an equivalent qualification (mandatory SEFRI recognition for foreign diplomas)
• You have experience and skills in psychiatry
• You have good knowledge of social insurance
• You have good knowledge of the Vaud socio-health network, Vaud medico-social institutions, administrative and legal structures, and accommodation facilities
• You appreciate collaboration within a multidisciplinary team
• You have good autonomy, a creative mind and show initiative
• You know how to listen actively and communicate effectively
• You hold a driving licence (essential).

Depending on profile, the candidate’s salary scale will be between level 8 and level 9.
